Meet Chris
My name is Chris, the owner of this site. I am a father of two wonderful little boys that have taught me more in the last few years than anyone else. I am based in Columbus, Ohio.
My journey into trading actually started out through an uncle. Ken was a horrible trader, but somehow got me to buy stocks. Needless to say, I lost some money doing that. (Can anyone say "Delta Airlines?") I didn't have any idea what I was doing, and seem to remember buying the stock because "The Government would probably bail them out"! (Too bad I didn't buy banks....)
I stumbled upon Forex to be honest. I had no idea that you could "trade money". I am a "worldly person", so I figured it would be good for me. My first trade was short USD/ZAR. (South African Rand) I made about $12 after an hour. I remember thinking, "Wow, this whole process made me really, really nervous." I began to see this was going to take some work. Fear was something I didn't understand came with the concept of trading.
I went from one bad mentor to another. I listened to a lot of bad advice. I got taken for a few bucks here and there. I finally wondered upon Forex Factory, and met a lot of people that would change the way I see things. I cannot express enough gratitude to the multitude of people that helped along the way. I cannot tell you how many times I thought I would give up. After 9 months of trading, something started to happen...
I became a break even trader. I stopped losing money. In some ways, it was more frustrating than losing. I stuck with it however, and started to finally come out with small profits.
Shortly afterwards, I joined a private trading group, and very soon became a "Senior Member". This was ironic actually, I was always told as a kid that I should be a teacher. (Even if I couldn't be bothered to show up to school most of the time.) I found that I enjoyed teaching very much. I began to give webinars, do tons of videos, and experiments. I really dug into it.
I found that after a while, I was ready to move on. As my trading evolved and changed, I began to really want to do this on my own. I believe that most people would tell you I have a good way of explaining things. I also have to say that most of my trading has been influenced by the belief that "There's more to life than trading". A few real major events in life can really put things in perspective. I had what I thought was a major illness, a son born, and my mother pass away within a few weeks. Times like that put a $100 loss in the markets in prespective!
I would also be remiss if I didn't mention Martin Pring, Jesse Livermore, and John and Wade at learningmarkets.com as being very influential in my trading.
